Marilyn Wilson, MSW, is a Clinical Research Specialist for the Health Disparities and Equity Core at the Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Previously, Marilyn worked as the Supervisor, Public Health Sciences, and Community Health Educator (CHE) for Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University. Ms. Wilson brought her expertise and community relationships to Siteman as the CHE in 2018. As a CHE, Ms. Wilson and PECaD implemented outreach programs to some of the most underserved parts of the catchment areas and disseminated NCI and culturally-tailored education materials to community members. Ms. Wilson facilitated existing community partnerships and helped Siteman develop new partnerships.  She is a trained social worker with significant experience in public health. Ms. Wilson has 20+ years of community education and outreach in the areas of mental health, cancer prevention, and wellness.  Ms. Wilson received her Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Gerontology and Management from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis in 2004.  Prior to the completion of her Master’s degree, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Ms. Wilson has worked for and collaborated with several public health agencies such as the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Planned Parenthood, Hopewell Center Behavioral Health Services as well as served in the role of Program Director for the American Parkinson Disease Association. Additionally, Marilyn is a graduate of the Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities (PECaD) Community Research Fellows Training (CRFT) Program Cohort III.  She is a recent graduate of the 2020-2021 FOCUS Leadership St. Louis program as well as a graduate of the FOCUS Women in Leadership Program 2016.
